BATIK PEDALAMAN
Literally translated as ‘inland batik’, batik pedalaman refers to the batik from the Java mainland, mostly from the royal ground in Yogyakarta and Solo. In this section, the works feature abstract motifs with philosophical meaning as well as brown, dark blue/black and white as primary colors.
BATIK PESISIR
Literally translated as ‘coastal batik’, Batik Pesisir refers to the batik from the northern coastal towns Java island, such as Cirebon, Pekalongan and Lasem. The figurative batik design is influenced by the traders from China and India with their signature vibrant colours.
BATIK INDONESIA
As the nation progress, the art and craft of batik spread throughout the Indonesian archipelago. Batik from other parts of Indonesia simply cannot be classified as batik pedalaman or batik pesisir, as each region has develop their own signature patterns and colours.
