This Cirebon Hokokai kain panjang batik features a buketan (a bouquet of flowers) and butterflies motif, repeated throughout the length of the cloth against a single colour Mega Mendung outline background. In this piece, lush, fully bloomed peonies, associated as the flower of riches and honor, are featured throughout the textile, giving a blessing for prosperity, good fortune and happy marriage.
The flower motif was made by first stamping wax onto the cloth and hand-painted with the soft pastel color. The painted areas are then covered with wax before adding the Mega Mendung outline with careful tesselation of wax with the copper stamp. After which, the cloth will be dipped into blue dye for the final background colour followed by the wax removal.
This batik cloth maybe folded and hanged or framed to highlight their best feature for any size and type of surfaces in your house or office. The color exudes sophistication and positivity to any modern space. Alternatively, this cloth may be transformed into a casual ladies top or a gentlemen shirt to bring out their colourful and youthful personality.
